- The UFC is working hard to book major Pay-Per-View events throughout early 2021.
- Amanda Nunes has been expected to defend her featherweight title against Megan Anderson for months.
- The Nunes vs. Anderson fight has now officially been booked to take place on March 6.
Amanda Nunes is arguably the most dominant champion in MMA right now. She’s the only current two-division champion in the promotion and is expected to defend her 145-pound title the next time she steps into the cage. That will come against Megan Anderson, the number-one contender at featherweight. New reports claim the Nunes vs. Anderson fight will be taking place on March 6.
This is a fantastic fight on paper. Anderson has some attributes that could give Nunes trouble. Today, we’re going to take a look at what this fight means for the UFC moving forward.
Let’s get into it!
Amanda Nunes Remains the Best Female Fighter in MMA
The introduction of female divisions into the UFC came back in 2013. The popularity of Ronda Rousey helped to catapult WMMA into the mainstream. Over the next two years, female mixed martial arts continued to grow and several more divisions were introduced.
In July of 2016, Amanda Nunes captured the bantamweight title against Miesha Tate. This win began one of the most dominant champion runs in MMA history. Nunes has already defended her title on five different occasions. In December of 2018, she won the featherweight title, as well.
Amanda now rules over two different weight divisions in MMA. Incredibly, “The Lioness” has also defeated strawweight champion Valentina Shevchenko twice, too. Valentina has been repeatedly calling for a third fight. There’s no debating the fact that right now, Nunes is the very best female mixed martial artist on the planet.
It’s hard to imagine anyone giving Amanda trouble inside the cage. She seems to be getting better with every single fight. Even against the bigger fighters at featherweight, Nunes looks in complete control.
What’s even more amazing is the fact that Nunes is only 32 years old. That’s still young in the world of MMA and could mean that she has many more fights ahead of her. Some question how motivated she can stay while at the top of the sport for so long, though.
There are still some fresh challengers available to Amanda Nunes. That includes Megan Anderson, one of the best strikers in the 145-pound division.
Nunes vs. Anderson is Finally Rebooked for March 6
Amanda Nunes has become a superstar in MMA with just her skill. She’s not known for trash talking and is generally respectful to every opponent she faces. Her dominance is what brings the attention of fans around the world.
Many believe that Megan Anderson is one of the few fighters capable of giving Nunes a tough fight. She’s significantly larger and has a level of kickboxing that Amanda hasn’t seen recently. Most online UFC betting sites still listed Amanda Nunes as the massive betting favorite for this bout.
A fight between these two women was initially booked to take place on December 12. Unfortunately, Amanda was forced out of this bout due to injury. This week, news broke that the Nunes vs. Anderson fight has officially been rebooked for March 6.

This is expected to be a fantastic fight. It’s slated to take place at UFC 259 and will likely feature another title fight. There are several exciting title options available to fit on this event, including the bantamweight title bout between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling.
2021 is already shaping up to be an incredible year for MMA fans. Kicking off the first Pay-Per-View is a massive lightweight fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. The winner will set themselves up for a crack at the title later in the year.
MMA betting has never been more popular than it is right now. Many fans are starting to place their wagers on the McGregor-Poirier fight!
Now is the Perfect Time to Bet on McGregor vs. Poirier!
Conor McGregor has fought in MMA just once in the past two years. Despite that fact, he remains the biggest star in the sport. He’s slated to return on January 23 in a rematch against former interim champion, Dustin Poirier.
BetOnline is offering some incredible odds on each of these fighters. No one knows how things will play out on fight night. It’s clear that the oddsmakers favor one man in this one. Many feel this is the perfect time to wager on this bout.
Conor McGregor is currently listed as the -240 favorite in this one. He was one of the best fighters in the world between 2013 and 2016. Inactivity is always an issue in MMA, yet many feel that he still has the perfect skill set to give Dustin Poirier trouble.
It’s strange how often Dustin Porier is listed as an underdog when he competes. He holds wins over some of the best fighters in the world and gave Khabib Nurmagomedov one of his best fights to date. BetOnline currently lists Poirer as the +205 underdog in this one, though.
This is an extremely important fight for both of these men. Khabib Nurmagomedov may decide to return at some point next year. The winner could end up receiving the next title shot against Khabib.
