NCAA College Football Betting Preview: Oregon Ducks vs. Washington State Cougars – Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020

The No. 11 Oregon Ducks are in Pullman, Wash., for a battle of PAC-12 of 1-0 teams. Oregon made easy work of Stanford in the opener as they won by a score of 35-14. The Cougars will be playing their second straight opponent from Oregon, as they defeated Oregon State 38-28 in their season opener.

Kickoff is at 7:00 P.M. Eastern on FOX.

Oregon Betting Preview

The biggest question for this Ducks’ team was how they would handle the loss of NFL Rookie of the Year candidate quarterback Justin Herbert. Tyler Shough sought out to answer that question early with a solid performance against Stanford.

Shough completed 17-of-26 passes for 227 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also carried the ball 11 times for 80 yards.

The sophomore spread the ball around as Johnny Johnson III, DJ Johnson, and Jaylon Redd all had at least four catches. Johnson III led the way with four catches for 60 yards, and DJ Johnson had the touchdown reception.

The Ducks run game looked to be in midseason form. CJ Verdell led the way with 105 yards on 20 carries. Oregon runners combined to carry the ball 40 times for 269 yards and four touchdowns. Shough, Verdell, Travis Dye, and Cyrus Habibi-Likio each ran for a touchdown.

Oregon’s defense did a decent job of limiting the damage against Stanford. The Cardinal put up 413 total yards but could only manage 14 points.

Washington State Betting Preview

In the post-Mike Leach era, it seems the Cougars will be moving to a much more balanced approach. They did that almost to perfection against Oregon State as they had 227 yards passing and 229 on the ground.

Quarterback Jayden de Laura showed signs of how talented he is, but the freshman looked like just that at times. He completed 18-of-33 passes for 227 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He found himself a pretty nice safety blanket in receiver Travell Harris who caught seven passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cougars run game made an appearance for the first time in a long time. Deon McIntosh looks to be a nightmare for PAC-12 defensive coordinators as he carried the ball 18 times for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Washington State’s defense struggled to stop the Beavers. They gave up 451 yards tota and 329 through the air. Shough will be licking his chops as the Cougars do not have the talent to guard his receivers.

Mybookie has Oregon as 10.5-point favorites. The total is set at 58 points.

Expect the Ducks’ defense to focus on McIntosh and make de Laura beat them. The quarterback made a few questionable decisions in the opener, and Oregon’s secondary should take advantage and come away with a couple of interceptions.

The Oregon run game should be able to have their way with this Washington State defense, and if they pack the box, Slough will pick them apart. I like the Ducks to win this one by at least two touchdowns.
